Was in a talk a few months ago where the speaker said "I'm not a Popperian... but..." and then the whole talk was about falsifying stuff and how that's super important.

One approach is to read them what Popper wrote about the foundations of science (the nice passage about building on swamps) and hear the sound of cognitive dissonance kicking in.
