my first shock was that, to be published, authors had to pay for a full expensive registration and also attend the most-likely-abroad conference

i KNOW it's appalling. just looking at the numbers i used to think being a researcher paid more than most jobs, didn't understand the complaints. but comparing the amount of work done? severely underpaid.

I mean yes, but also I kind of am grossed out by how some people SOME PEOPLE are on 6-figure salaries (esp. Americans).
