The reason for this [one of many ofc] is that in 1964 the T/C MPs left parliament permanently. As per the constitution of Cyprus there were specific MPs that had to be T/C and could only be voted for by T/Cs Cypriots [so ethnoreligious groupings were/are constitutionally upheld].
