But talking about stuff without being an expert in them is... well... anti-science?

BTW I have this idea people, on Twitter, think I'm a lot younger than I am. Especially those who disagree with me. I find it really strange. They say things like that I finished my PhD like 1-2 years ago or something. It's nice. I guess I know how to moisturise my skin.

And more than a few think I'm doing a PhD now. That would actually be nice TBH. Imagine if I had waited 10 years to do my PhD. It would have been such a nice ride. I'm so much more mature now. INB4: You're still pretty immature.

Ha reminds of a similar thing. I am old enough to remember the arrival of the PLOS journals and how quite a few people said that their idealism would be their doom. Replication issues were not even a thing at the time. Well except for those who had read Meehl and similar stuff..

Ha, indeed. We have been around long enough to remember a time before science Twitter being a big deal.

When I was a student in my second year I was told by one of the TA : "You should have a look at this new thing to search articles. It is called pubmeb. It is great."

And I am going to stop here because this is depressing and reminds me just of how old I am.

Remi, I know maybe it's just me... but... why don't you like being old? Maybe it's a woman thing? The longer I live the more people listen to me and take me seriously, I LOVE IT!

Am mostly fine with the being old part on its own. But it does not sit well with the impostor syndrom and where I think I "should" be: but that is another debate.

But I get the strange impression sometimes that it is not age that matters in this case but the title. Introduce yourself as a PhD or a postdoc, a psychologist or a neuriscientist and the expectations and attention span of you interlocutor will be quite different.

Yeah, I get you on the impostor syndrome 100%. I think with the GP though it's complex, I mean they are an MD too, but yeah, I agree. I think the thing with titles is that they only work if they are context-understood. In Cyprus where everybody has a PhD, I'm ignored sometimes.
