This isn't Cypriot Greek from Cyprus, it's paroikia stuff. My great grandmother who was American Cypriot (NY, USA, originally Lefkara, Cyprus) also used to say panio instead of banio. I think it's a natural process that occurs when surrounded by English-speakers? CC

I also accidentally have said palooni instead of baloni.

It's obviously interference from balloon. The time I said palooni, I laughed and I said (mainly to myself) "Oh, it's baloni... so what's 'ball' in Greek? Oh! Riiiight."
