So far it's really nice. I'm still learning my way around but I like it. It reminds me a little of when I first switched from Windows to Mac OS (leopard, I think?) It's clean and it doesn't try to do too much.

I kind of like Unity
At the risk of being *that person* it’s not Unity in the photo, it’s Gnome 3. Ubuntu abandoned Unity in 18.04. You can customise it a lot if you install gnome-tweaks and gnome shell extension package from the package manager.
Oh, phew. I've been on Mint too long. So glad to hear it's been abandoned.
The main complaint I had with Unity (and there are a lot of valid complaints about it) was that Canonical made it impossible to customise, which combined with their rather marmite “orange + purple” colour scheme was ... an issue. Gnome is drastically better in this regard!
Yeah. I can't stand Unity at all. And moving to Mint made escaping it easier and getting back a more classic desktop experience without having to hack away at stuff when I'd rather be working. UCL IT of course did all the work.
Also has Mark Shittleworth redeemed himself?
Dunno.
