Watching the finale of Big Bang Theory with my parents (probably the only episode I've sat all the way through). Do any scientists actually like this show? Am I the only one who finds it painful?!

I never understood the popularity. The one episode I saw seemed explicitly sexist; so much so that I wondered if it was part of some deeper social commentary. [narrator: it wasn’t]

I’ve been told that I resemble the “ugly brunette” from that show. The impression I got was that the two categories of women are “ugly but smart” and “hot but simple”. I’ve been told the show has developed from that and is now more nuanced but my life is too short to find out

Oh and of course - and goes without saying - I am not making an actual comment on the appearance of either of the actresses. They are obviously incredibly attractive but one of them is “dressed down” for an “ugly effect”

“just add glasses”?

Essentially yes. Put glasses and cardigan on an extremely attractive woman and woahpic.twitter.com/zjD7ECJ1vW

Well, at least you don't donate money to the IDF.

Sorry I’m lost?

The one with the neuro PhD is a bit *ehem* uncool...
