I bought a small home in 2010, and I lost it because no one would employ me for a few years after 2011, when Gawker published an article based on a blog post that used a sensitive situation I was going through (I was catfished) to say I made up a girlfriend to seem cool

now, that seems like something that no one would care about. There's more to it, and I would implore you to watch my video on it. I did some shitty things during this, and I talk about it here:https://youtu.be/EbUkino-a8k

but basically I was untouchable. though I started getting work again several years later, it was pretty much brought up at every job I had.

now, I mention institutional backing and money because these are the most important elements. when I see people saying "this shit doesn't matter," it's people who are safe. it's generally not marginalized people, and it's generally not poor or working class people

you can fuck someone up if they don't have money or institutional backing. you might find that there's a crossover here in where I call for people to donate to leftist creators

the people who make leftist content you might think are insulated, but they are not. we are not. and those of us with working class backgrounds and nothing in the bank, we might know what we're doing and have good production... but we are individuals

anyways, I say these things because the thing we are up against is so much bigger than any of us

my experience with Gawker has led me to see how media power works in a way I think people should not have to experience I have lasting issues from that, many of them compounded by how few people are willing to listen

Thank you for sharing and I'm sorry. Sadly leftists and people in general don't like to believe others when the information is not drilled into them constantly from multiple sources. This causes harm in cases where somebody is asking for help/ uncovering injustice.
