Once talked with a cabbie who regretted their vote for Brexit, and would have changed his vote if he could. His reasoning was that he was manipulated by anti-immigrant rhetoric that he later found out wasn't true (eastern European "benefit cheats"). Interesting conversation.

I once talked to a cabbie who thought 7/7 and 9/11 were a hoax to create anti-Muslim/-immigrant sentiment. I was so intrigued I kept asking him more, and I was so close to just saying "My god, it's like you're so wrong you're right!" — just kept chatting though instead.

I talk about my work. Most at least pretend to be concerned about it. Some feign ignorance, some try to change the subject. A couple (I think) I may have convinced to switch. At least something for them to mull over when they go home to the tabloids & bigotry of their daily lives

Most think I'm exaggerating about my work and/or don't react. I think they think I'm just lying? Not sure. They don't seem to be interested.
