I don't think I've ever had anything but courtesy from Uber drivers. I guess I assumed that the prospect of a 1* review kept them from saying some of the things that might cross their mind.

Got an anti-immigrant speech from cabbie while literally on the way to a pro-immigrant, anti-Trump protest in Cardiff (we told him so). Pointed out that
@CandiceMorey and I were immigrants and the reply was "oh, but you're rich American immigrants. You're always welcome." -
His honestly about his double standards and white supremacy is refreshing, which in and of itself is a very 2019 vibe.

-
he wasn't even white, which made it even odder.
-
I mean you need even non-white people to buy into white supremacy for it to work.

-
yes. For white people, white supramacy can often seem abstract so it can be surprising (to us) when we meet more overt examples. As a college student in Florida, I worked at a grocery store as a bagger. I helped an older woman take bags out to her car. At her car, with no one >

Sad but true.

And another non-Uber taxi driver who spent 2 hours telling me about how women are thick, can't drive, and have different brains to men after asking me what my job was. I kept trying to change the subject and he kept going and going. 2 hours.

-
that's unfortunate. But I am sure you know that's not true. Derogatory comments should still be unwelcome, however.
-
I'm confused by the use of "but" and "however".
-
* ignore the but. the 'however' was just bad grammar. I apologize.

Report this to
@Uber - I had an Uber driver go off on anti immigrant nonsense and at the end of the ride he told me I was ok and allowed to stay - reported it to Uber and they dealt with it sensitively. -
It was more than a year ago sadly. Glad to hear of your experience ending with Uber taking it seriously.
