I used to live in a flat that had a smart lock so I downloaded the instructions and changed the code. Fucking landlords. Legally, I had to give them the new code so I did but still they needed to realise when they just gave it out to workmen I'd then change it. I felt so unsafe.https://twitter.com/jathansadowski/status/1125942837172785155 …

Don't they have to give you notice if they're entering? In which case, just change it back to the one they have when they need to get in. Afterwards, put it back on your private code.

Just read the article, and see the concerns over the internet. That's something separate, of course. But if your concern is the entry code itself to your apartment, don't share it w/the landlord. Just remember to change it back when they need to get in for repairs w/legal notice.

Just to be clear that's a "Nope" to everything you said. They do legally have to give written notice.

I'm noping out at your lack of a grasp on how abusive landlords are in the UK. And how there are no clear laws about trespassing and how pretty much nobody can stop them coming in in any real legal way without getting evicted.

Anyway, don't give advice over the internet when you have no empathy or interest in understanding the issue.
