Rant warning! I know this is controversial but I have absolutely no time for these people who stop you on the street to ask you to donate to a charity. i understand they are just trying to make ends meet and I am sure they are lovely people. I know not everyone has a choice

When it comes to employment - we take what we can get to make ends meet. So I appreciate this is elitist. Now. I live on a super busy road and there are these people who stop you to ask for donations every 100m. There is one crossing where even now, on a rainy day, there is one

on either side of the street. So you can’t avoid it. They stop you even if you have headphones on and you are actively trying to not make eye contact. Then if you ignore them or are short with them, they act as if you are being unreasonable. I’d stop for a chat every 100m every

day, if I gave them my time. I am frustrated and annoyed and I feel harassed by this. I’ve even had someone walk alongside me for a bit when I said I didn’t have time to stop. They make me feel as if they are entitled to my time and my attention, as if I am being rude for not

offering it to them. I know people who have done these jobs, I don’t agree with it but I understand that people don’t always have a choice. I also understand that charities employing these face-to-face workers get more donations through them - so they are worth it for them.

But personally I’d like to see this practice stop. Or at least them only talking to you if you approach them. I hate it.
