I fully admit I have zero sense of humor about this because I absolutely hate that techbros are making these things to be female servants and capitalizing (see what i did there) on people's instinct to anthropomorphize things they "talk" to.

agreed. also remember hearing a story at some point (probably on the internet) about a guy ignoring GPS directions given in a female voice because he wasn't willing to do what a woman told him to do...

Apparently, from what I've read (because I am writing a book on these things), some voice tech has a default male voice in some British places because of the butler association! I don't know how widespread that is, though
