I have always been able to resolve stereograms, but with some difficulty. Recently, however, I've tried a few on a computer screen and I find them much easier than on paper. Is there a plausible explanation for this?pic.twitter.com/6VJauHgb32

I think that's why computer screens or placing them behind glass helps - the reflective surface makes it easier to focus on something the distance (and therefore unfocused on the image itself).
Makes sense. I like unfocusing my eyes generally. Feels relaxing. And as you say, it's super easy to do if you are looking at something far away.
I find the process of trying to explain to people what they will (hopefully) see to be interesting in itself. We (I, anyway) have a limited vocabulary to describe our own perceptions.
The odd thing is that you have to unfocus your eyes (or focus on a distant point behind the picture) but as the stereogram starts to resolve you can then "focus" on the 3D image and it suddenly clicks into place. That's how I experience it at least.
