Yeah, not bad... I think more gentle pulling of the individual strands near the base. But I am not an expert at all myself. 
Yes, quite a bit fell out within 20 mins of running around. I'm just not sure how to pull on three separate strands with only two hands! I think I need a doll to practice on.
So I think this is where youtube might be super useful. It's definitely possible to hold them all (and more than 3) between fingers (which you have 10) not whole hands (which of you have 2). If her hair is too slippery some (some, not a lot!) fixing spray will help.
