One of my biggest sources of writer's block is I am so worried about being a terrible writer. My grammar isn't at native level, sometimes my sentences are long and awkwardly structured. I am entirely blind to it but other people comment on it. Should I pay to get it proofread?

I don't think this is that much to do with being a non-native speaker. I think it's more specific training that privileged UK/US educated people receive at school. I didn't receive this training and it's taken me years to be at an OK level of writing.

Tbh though Greek and English have opposite definitions of what academic writing should look like. In Greek, large and complex sentences with a lot of jargon are considered intellectually superior, whereas the opposite is true in English
