One of my biggest sources of writer's block is I am so worried about being a terrible writer. My grammar isn't at native level, sometimes my sentences are long and awkwardly structured. I am entirely blind to it but other people comment on it. Should I pay to get it proofread?

I don't think this is that much to do with being a non-native speaker. I think it's more specific training that privileged UK/US educated people receive at school. I didn't receive this training and it's taken me years to be at an OK level of writing.

But doesn't you being able to write well in Finnish correlate with being taught how to write well in Finnish at school? I mean it's not like just speaking it made you write well, right?
