I’m meant to be doing an ML MOOC at some point this year to take my understanding from very high level to practical. I guess with the personnel changes that’s out the window :(

Is there one you would recommend? Planning to find the time to do the same since ML is slowly eating microscope image ananlysis

Not yet. A couple of family members did one in MATLAB which seems like a bad idea..l

Ideally I'd be trying to find one that is in Python. MATLAB remains a necessary evil for me, but one I avoid if I can

Sorry to hear, Owain. What kind of ML? I did a good one but focused on neural networks a decade+ ago by Geoff Hinton.

Just a general background with examples would be good. The “Matlab” one was this:https://www.coursera.org/learn/machine-learning …

I'm doing this exact coursera one at the moment. Feel free to ask how it's going/workload etc!

Yeah - my mum + sister did it together last session and said it was good. I then sent them my list of links to Matlab issues posts ;)

There's a lot of linear algebra work, that Octave/Matlab reduces to one-liners. Andrew Ng says "trust me on this one" for using Octave/Matlab for prototyping as it offers gains in human time in the early stages, and then porting to python, etc later

having experienced a huge disconnect between the teaching material and the first programming exercise, I'm no longer shilling so hard for this course...the confusion is shared on the forums and you would think they would have refined the material in the last 8 years.
