Speaking of which, my mum has memories of going through a very big T/C ghetto growing up where you can to wait for the UN convoy to go to Kyreneia. She moved into the basement of her house during 74 summer & a Greek soldier manned an anti-aircraft gun on their roof.

Speaking of shell casings, my great aunt uses what I can only describe as same kind of naval shell casing about a meter high ish... to keep her xmas tree in. Badass.

But yeah, focus on the good food. The eccentric locals and mostly obsessed with poo metaphors and generally mean well if you're a tourist.
