So I've just submitted my PhD upgrade docs which cost me time, questioning things (& getting some painful answers which I still feel grief about), and a really huge amount of anxiety. I opened Twitter to learn Theresa May did the meerkat impression re: Brexit. I am truly done

LOL she's such a clown. But yeah, I'm sorry. I remember my upgrade was just a piece of paper — what's yours?

She is! It is a proposal document with a set of studies I am to do for my PhD + a separate document with a literature review + a pseudo-mini-viva next week on whether the project is reasonable with my PhD committee who are supposed to review my progress

Gosh, that's a lot but I am sure it will be fine (most of this is a formality in the UK typically).

It will be fine, it's just that the process unravelled some disappointments--as one is bound to encounter in their PhD at some point anyway I guess. Also just time-consuming so I am looking forward to a week of doing work but also getting enough sleep!

I get you. It's all so tricky. I hope things turn out OK.
