It certainly does not seem to aim at finding a modus vivendi

Perhaps I misunderstand the term, but it does not seem to me that a 'compromise' is needed; I am asking instead, a push for open science that does not care to put in effort to safeguard the humanity and safety of its own practices ... what is it for?

Yes, I understood what you meant. To me, the term does not imply compromise but simply a provision of means to let people coexist in peace (probably the meaning in English/Dutch doesn't correspond exactly to that in Latin based languages).

What I meant is that the OS movement does not seem to care about minimum(s/a) of coexistence.

The problem we have to deal with is how these people are not discussed as much within the areas of open science we inhabit... and that's a genuinely valuable question.

I may inhabit special corners of the
#openscience world;@thecarpentries cares a great deal about community and inclusion. I know that the@emckiernan13 /@hjoseph /@open_con sphere does as well. so do at least some in bioinformatics.2 replies 1 retweet 10 likes -

I am spending a lot of my
#openscience think time on understanding how to promote healthy community growth. that seems like the best path to a human-centric open science that is both worthwhile and sustainable. arguing this to e.g. funding agencies is challenging tho :(1 reply 3 retweets 12 likes -

I've ended up thinking of this as a problem of capitalism. Funding agencies aren't set up for a) long term and b) distributed wins. There always seems to be an argument for a small group to take the lead to deliver XYZ in the short term.

Which is not to say that that is very helpful.....it's actually much harder than not caring about inclusion and sustainability...but the roots of the problem make more sense to me that way.
