I had decided not to respond to @ProfData's blog post in which he calls the twitter conversation around his & coauthors' preprint “rapey and authoritarian” because I think my twitter thread that he links to speaks for itself. (1/3)https://twitter.com/siminevazire/status/1083533474332430336 …

I have some thoughts about the recent debate about @KriegeskorteLab’s blog post and @ProfData’s response. [Thread]

But then I saw several people I respect a lot praise it or share praise of it, so I’ll just say: please read @KriegeskorteLab's review (a review of a publicly posted preprint) and Brad’s response. Links here: (2/3)https://twitter.com/siminevazire/status/1083533567475347456 …

If you then still think my twitter thread or Niko’s review was inappropriate, I’d be curious to talk offline and hear your perspective. (3/3)

I wasn't even referring to his blog there, which was clear from my latest blog. I don't want to put in links to people's twitter comments along those lines to single them out. But again, why bother with reality on social media.

"lecturing us by tweet how science works, and telling us to sit back and enjoy it to make the most of it, which was all rather rapey and authoritarian." Notice there is no reference to any individual or blog here.http://bradlove.org/blog/fast-food-science …

So about those adjectives . . . was there an actual person who said anything that could be interpreted as "sit back and enjoy it"?

Yep. You can fish it out if you like. I am not though as I think de-personalizing here would be good.

I think we've now hit peak irony given the topic of the blog.

FWIW I've been raped and saying just sit back relax and enjoy it without your consent is rapey. It doesn't matter that it's not sexual inherently. The lack of consent and saying just enjoy it is hella creepy. And given the greater context, let's just say it's nasty rhetoric.

I was asking where anyone said that? I can't find it on Twitter's (suboptimal) search function.
