I mean, I get it, I too have messed up, been called out on it, and responded by characterising the entirety of my actions as the most defensible subset of them. But this doesn’t hold up to scrutiny if you look further than just Singal’s tweets. I see why people don’t trust him.

I strongly believe in forgiveness and allowing people to change, but I see no evidence of that and it makes me wary of Singal’s judgment generally. He hasn’t wilfully mischaracterised the open science community, but maybe we just haven’t done anything he’s disagreed with yet.
