Don't worry. That was never my intention.

Oh. I'm 1 of those. I deliberately follow some people with whom I disagree, trying to escape my own bubble, without becoming 100% misanthropic... What's your take on when unfollowing is necessary/recommended, etc? I ask 'cause I never perceived "following" as endorsement, so IDK.

Agreed. I'd prefer not to be judged on who I follow when I have various reasons for doing so. Following a bad person so that you can easily report whenever you see something bad is worth the +1 to their follower count.

I think it matters what you/we mean by "disagree". Would you follow somebody who wanted to destroy science and had the power to? Do you see number of followers as a kind of power (e.g., this case w/ dog-piling)? If "no" & "yes", you can see why maybe it's time to hit the button.

This one is hard. On the assumption that some of my opinions are wrong, I have to seek out honest disagreements. But I can't judge "honesty" in any reliable way. I can, of course, do it in certain cases!

Ehe. Not much to appreciate in my case: I'm just trying to learn via hive mind. Never sure when/why it might come across as epistemic exploitation. Might link to the issue of honesty, in the reverse direction...

Thanks. I'm addicted to pretentious language :-/. This one comes from here (I think!): https://quod.lib.umich.edu/e/ergo/12405314.0003.022/--epistemic-exploitation?rgn=main;view=fulltext …

I'm not sure if it's pretentious but I'm too lazy to figure it out
