I am so frustrated by this sort of thing. I don't know if this simply a fundamental human limitation we should accept or a brokenness of science that everyone has accepted as the norm.

I agree that ignorance is not a system property, but a system can select for it or incentivize it (as per
@bradpwyble ‘s earlier tweet), and that in turn can in part uphold a system. As in circular causality. -
Absolutely. And to be charitable to Aidan he means "people in the system". I would say though that it's not relevant for system-wide criticism to know either way. I have had experiences when I'm excluded or called people out and the reactions are very telling FWIW.

A socio(-cultural) system is nothing but its causal reality in relation to its social substrate. It cannot intrinsically be malicious, but it can intrinsically contribute to such a thing. Even if effected by the substrate, the cause can be seen as a (sub)system's property
