A post-#monkigras treat for you all: my updated advice for running events that are as inclusive, accessible and welcoming as possible.
I’m always fascinated by the things organisers to do make a welcoming event, and this is a list of everything I’ve seen:https://alexwlchan.net/ideas-for-inclusive-events/ …

If you’re an organiser – use the ideas from this list to make your event better. If you‘re an attendee, speaker or sponsor – use your power. Ask for changes, improvements, and accommodations where they don’t already exist.

This list was originally a blog post, but I didn’t have a good way to add major new sections or ideas. This version has: * Lots of new ideas and corrections * A summary for the skim-readers * Even more links and attribution * Source code on GitHub:https://github.com/alexwlchan/ideas-for-inclusive-events …

Finally, I say this in the post, but I’ll make it clear here too: Most of the ideas on this list aren’t my inventions. They come from me watching people who are much smarter than me do cool things, and then writing it all down. Standing on the shoulders of giants, and so on.

Love this list. Thank you. Minor comment: I'd add that fragrance-free is also very useful to migraineurs. Smells are a common trigger.
