My brown european friends, for example, are getting passports and they never say it's #Brexit — they don't describe it that way, even though that's part of it.
They say it's #Windrush that scares them.
I find that really telling.

I wish more non-EU and/or BAME voices were heard/listened to even if they aren't European. They know even more about this — the lived experience of racism in the UK, navigating the hostile Home Office, and so much more, than anybody.

I was there in the 60s when lots of people arrived in Lancashire from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. AFAICT, it did far more good than harm, enlivening the culture, providing much-needed replacements to an aging population... But as you know, racism was rampant
