In all this discussion about theory vs experiment in cognitive science, I'm started to wonder what we value most in our work and our field. No one activity/output defines us, but what matters most to you? If you had to choose one, is your favourite achievement within cog sci:

I'm not sure what I'd have gone for, model or philosophical insight. Probably the latter, since I think there are a lot of very good models (even if not understood or ignored).

Probably that the brain is a computer. Old, but classic.

I think I would have gone forthat, or the whole "original idea for PDP -》alphaGo" cycle. To just fundamentally reconceptualise representation and recapture human expertise like that. But this is both a philosophical insight, a model, and a technology.
