3/ October was also bioRxiv's first million-download month, driven mostly by preprints in #neuroscience, #bioinformatics and #genomics. There are fewer genomics preprints, but they get more downloads per paper than any other category.pic.twitter.com/Z55qlCGEp8

4/ We find that more than 60 percent of preprints posted before 2018 have been published in a peer-reviewed journal, and that preprints with more downloads tend to show up in journals with higher impact factors:pic.twitter.com/dIVykDSmOj

5/ Overall, we found that more than 1,100 journals have published bioRxiv preprints so far. @SciReports has published the most, followed by @eLife and @PLOSONE. Also, most preprints that are published appear in a journal after less than 6 months, though that varies by journal toopic.twitter.com/px0B78Zz0u

6/ But enough spoilers—our preprint (my first!) is live, to my great excitement and terror. Check it out if you're interested in long-term trends in the quantity, readership and publication of biology preprints:https://www.biorxiv.org/content/early/2019/01/13/515643 …

Nice project. What do you think about the fact that "most discussed" probably doesn't correlate with good science nor even with good discussion sometimes? Also do you worry this might promote a rich get richer system, thus exacerbating non-merit-based imbalances in science?

if Rxivist is going to be the site going forward for collation, it would be great to have links to reviews and comments. Also as an author, I'd love to include an annotated bibliography for our papers, like "you might also be interested in" links which might help this problem?

Please be very VERY wary of allowing/encouraging online comments on preprints. There is reason to believe this will expose marginalized scientists to unreasonable criticism and insults.

That is a good point that I should have considered. I'm not sure how to moderate that. In an ideal world, the field would immediately dismiss reviews that are clearly mean-spirited and do nothing to advance the work (we received a pubpeer review like this).

The reason "bro" is such a good descriptive term is because unlike some of the other things said about the worst of #bropenscience this one sticks in a way they really don't like. I'm for #openscience. That's why I care to criticise the frolicking brobots and their silliness.
