Surprised seeing how many people still have a "childhood bedroom" at their parents. My parents famously redecorated and had a new use for my room within 24 hours of me leaving

I have my exact room pretty much (minus my desk which they moved to another room). In my culture it's extremely unusual to redecorate dramatically nor move.

Is that the southern European idea of long term multi generational living? If so, I certainly see the appeal although I've never experienced it myself!

I'm in the Levant/Near East, Cyprus. I can't really say it's about multigenerational, but yes, that also makes sense and is done by many regardless of class (although in different ways). In my/our case what's happening is because houses are totally custom built my room stays has

no "new" use anyway. If that makes sense. Unlike the UK (esp London) where we're always pressed for space.
