I've seen some speculation that if you stripped all the unnecessary weight off something like a DJI Phantom (big drone used in filmmaking and photography) and strapped as many batteries to it as you could, it could probably do the flight time we've seen.

Somehow I hadn't thought of adding extra batteries, but now I'm imagining some sort of Kerbal asparagus staging but with batteries, I mean surely the extra weight is going to cut into flight time?

Extra mass is going to increase power requirements, but up to a certain point it's going to add flight time to add new batteries. You could also asparagus stage (or in this case bamboo stage) batteries to maximise flight time.

Yup obviously I've not been playing Kerbal for long enough to forget that with Asparagus staging you have propulsion on the stages with the fuel you're dropping
