Yes, you are.

I disagree with you but I don't see the point of arguing the case.

peraps some other point time in Cafe at the End of the Universe?

I'm not convinced talking things through changes people's minds in such contexts. But maybe if the universe ends psychological constants will change.

-
I'm of mixed feelings on this. Many likely doing this as a sort of privilege arbitrage: taking advantage of movements without suffering any of the negatives But seeing people willfuly taking black attributes—usually other direction, skin lightening etc—can't help b bit heartened
-
I'm pretty sure sadly that black and white minstrels also did it willingly.

-
Maybe I'm being too optmistic or naive but I feel like those minstrels did it to mock--dehumanize--blacks and mods were temporarily, almost insultingly applied, where as, I don't get that impression here. I know there's lots of baggage and not all will agree.
-
I guess what I mean is, blackface is so extreme, insultingly applied (don't know why I said almost),there's no room for ambiguity. Here, there's enuff scope for ambiguity that it leaves open that maybe person is ok with publicly being seen as mixed. Maybe wrong reasons but a step?
-
The problem is that they are taking away from real black people positions of influence and they are gaming the system. If they face any real racism they are able to "take off their disguise" and say "no, you can't be racism to me because — haha — I'm not black".
-
The way to not being racist is to just not be racist not to pretend to be black.
