Why are these so many logical positivists and scientism supporters around these days? What happened? Are we re-running the 20th century but with a different random seed and the tech BS parameter set higher?

Tangentially I'd be curious to hear anything you have to say about Mayo's Statistical Inference as Severe Testing book, if you've been at all exposed to it.

I was about to suggest her book as well esp. introductory chapters. Her proposals to get around both Carnapian and Popperian objections are interesting.

But she has a very specific emphasis in the types of models/methods she discusses i.e. very focused on statistics rather than other types of modeling. Some of her ideas seem transferable to things like non-statistical simulations for instance.
