Learning to code during my PhD was the best decision I ever made for my development. I went from never having written a line of code to becoming an evangelist. My research would not have been possible without R and python. I would not have finished in 3 years without them (2/n)

Despite having no maths or compsci background I was able to end up a data scientist through learning to code. I'm sure there are many people like me in psych undergrads who might not think coding is for them, but will end up loving it (3/n)

On paper I'd be firmly in the not able to learn camp (i) started my undergrad is philosophy, (ii) arts background. But now I write code for a job.

Also, being mostly self taught myself, I've found teaching others vital to consolidating my understanding. It's definitely scary teaching something you haven't been formally taught, but rewarding too
