Basically my point boils down to: in the UK the tide has turned and we teach undergrads to code "against their will" just like we teach them research methods/stats "against their will".

I think it's fine to introduce them to coding (sprinkling as you said above), but making psych a hardcore quant major may not serve the interests of the students

I don't think I said that. I think we, in the UK, need to push back really hard on the damage the BPS is doing to undergrads. It's making everybody have a degree geared around becoming a clinical psych.

You did say "sprinkle in R and Python" a few tweets back, which I took to mean that you introduce them to the topic. I don't think you could get instill a sustainable understanding of coding through such an approach, but it would be great for them to at least SEE what coding is
