Here is a dilemma: Say, hypothetically, you witness some problematic behavior in your own science (sub)community, but by talking about it, you get piled on. You can be silent (to stop the pile on) or keep speaking up (in hope of positive change). What do you do?

YASS this is the best method. I have been the “underdog” many times, worked quietly but with goals in mind, then when I meet them it’s easier to dish out the dirt
. No one can sustain fighting back 24/7. I wouldn’t want anyone to do that either, for their own health. -
I replied 'real dilemma' because I think it would vary depend on the nature of the 'pile-on', and your personal position re. ability not to get ruined by the blowback. My working motto is: SURVIVE THEM Speak now if you can Save it for later if you must
