Darn those open science ECRs bullying professors on social media. What can we do to stop these out of control millenials?

Blocking people is such a brute force way of suppressing the “wrong” kind of discussion. If it’s genuinely for comfort reasons, muting works great and doesn’t keep information from others!

But sure now it’s you who’s aggressive by screenshotting & commenting. She’s the one who’s cut you off, she can’t ban you from engaging in the discussion without her, can she?!

Her tweets in that thread are all deleted now...

She has also sent me a surprisingly kind dm thanking me for drawing her attention to potential contradictions in her expressed views. But then she blocked me before I could respond

So while I'm DEFINITELY NOT that kind of psychologist, and neither am I saying we should infer strong stuff about others' mental states over the internet, but what do you think that pattern of behaviour is consistent with? I mean this is really not a mystery at all.

I genuinely don’t understand what you’re implying here – could you be clearer? It feels pretty shitty to be blocked by someone, and she sent me that message when I had already gone to bed, so I really couldn’t have replied.

Sure, as long as we’re clear that I have feelings too and that I was by no means an aggressor (and I’m SO much further down the food chain). Sure, I felt rather attacked when I was blocked and reacted accordingly but like I’m human too?

Yes, you're human. Nobody denied that.
