That said, I'm jealous of your problems, and at least there are some ambitious plans. Here we just complain about traffic, and even in cities like SF just happy to get some new train cars

SF seemed to be — I might be wrong though as it was not rush hour — way WAY less crammed. That doesn't mean it's not a bit of a hellscape for various other reasons.

You're probably right, although if Caltrain is what you rode that's actually the most pleasant. The problem is BART with its crazy screeching, and gross trains. And bus lines like the 38-Geary which carry even more passengers than all of Caltrain, but crawl at 10 kmph!

Victoria line is so noisy between Highbury Islington and where I live you basically can't talk unless you scream (many do anyway haha).
