Oh, gosh. I forgot I bought this off eBay years ago... I should go buy batteries see if it still works as sadly the mains adaptor stopped powering it for some reason.pic.twitter.com/cr9Idf5L09

Basically only the screen seems damaged (note how it's incredibly faint). But the Game Gear otherwise is fine. Enjoy the sound!

Well this is embarrassing. @yhancik @usethespacebar @EmmaDelescolle
I totally forgot the screen has a brightness setting.

The batteries went flat during a long game of Columns. So the life is about ~3 hours ABSOLUTE MAX.
If you're going to spend money to run old games and want to tinker with electronics, may I suggest https://learn.adafruit.com/pigrrl-zero/overview … ?
It would be about the same price a the screen suggested by @yhancik
you could even fit all of it in the GameGear case
Would it play my very small collection of cartridges I wonder...pic.twitter.com/exHcGOnpEf
It plays from a micro sd card, so you'd have to put the roms on that but you can probably find that online
I think I might look into the capacitors first, as it's not the screen... https://twitter.com/o_guest/status/1056486574026821632 … But this idea with a RasPi is great!
You can even get a better screen! https://www.videogameperfection.com/products/replacement-mcwill-version/ … (but it's not cheap :p)
It's not the screen based on that link. "If the existing LCD is faint or can only be seen at an angle, you must replace the systems capacitors, otherwise performance from the replacement LCD will not be satisfactory."
Because see it here...https://twitter.com/o_guest/status/1056483841685311488?s=19 …
Complete the game just by the sounds!
