The other day crows on the roof did like a seance or something. Like I thought it was a crow funeral, but they all flew away alive. One or two crows were in the middle and many (6?) sat in a circle around cawing really loudly for ages!
Any corvid experts know what that was?

Interesting! A murder of
#crows descends on my yard each morning when I put out#birdseed. The rest descend right after one or two land on my roof and bang on the tin to crack the sunflower seeds. The sound seems to summon the others. It's part of our daily ritual and cat TV!1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

Kaeli Swift, PhDVerified account @corvidresearchReplying to @o_guestSo during fall and winter, as dusk approaches crows start to congregate together and make their way to their nightly roost. They are super chatty during these gathers though we have no idea what they’re saying. There’s a group at UW studying it, however.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

Very impressed you get to feed the crows! I wish I could attract my neighbourhood crows. What's the trick?

They like sunflower seeds and peanuts (even in the shell). My friend Heather feeds one out of her hand with dry dog food. That crow sees her car coming and follows her up the street. That has gone on generations, with each crow showing the nestlings how to beg!
