OK, but have you seen the dogpiles and sealioning I've had to endure because I mention that I think open science should strive for inclusivity?

And not just me... so many other women that I will not tag for obvious reasons. I can genuinely dig up (some of) the times this has happened to me if you want to see. Back in 2017 it was so bad my Twitter was unusable. I considered leaving the site.

What you are describing is abusive, which I have never experienced, and I have no reason not to take you at your word about it.

The fact that neither of us have experienced it does seem crucial to understanding the nature of the problem (I’m sure you get that, just making sure it’s obvious to everyone else)

No doubt. I have written exactly one "politically contentious" thing that was discussed outside my own twitter-verse. I'm sure would have brought down the an avalanche of jerks had it been written by a woman. I got a few annoying tweets and one oddly polite email. Full stop.

Apparently you decide both meaning and who's allowed to use them. I disagree on both counts.

That's fine to disagree in the general case but you also choose meaning and decide to use stuff not really coined for you. So none of this that you think Danielle did but you didn't (even though you did too) is wrong. I can say a technical terms means X within a given context.

I can give you the history of a term and say "this is what the term means in 90% of cases and the term was coined for A and B reasons which do not apply". Even if I say "don't use it that way" that isn't really a threat like you make it out to be, just a piece of advice really.

If I say "no bros in open science", that doesn't mean I'm coming round to your house to take your keyboard away. It just means I would prefer there to be no bros in open science.

I can't believe it has to be explained, but there we go.

I can't imagine how tedious it would be to stick my nose in every time someone on twitter said something I disagree with.
