I am glad to hear you support inclusivity. That's huge because in the past on this issue I/we had almost no support from men in open science. Even just a few months ago (the most recent time we brought up inclusivity) there was no real support other than from a handful of women.

I can give you the history of a term and say "this is what the term means in 90% of cases and the term was coined for A and B reasons which do not apply". Even if I say "don't use it that way" that isn't really a threat like you make it out to be, just a piece of advice really.

If I say "no bros in open science", that doesn't mean I'm coming round to your house to take your keyboard away. It just means I would prefer there to be no bros in open science.
