Indeed —- a real thread in the story of my life in the past 24 hours. Ready to embrace OS and then APPALLED by Twitter attacks, often on women researchers. Also — often come from anonymous accounts!https://twitter.com/aidanhorner/status/1052894902760046596 …

Oh twitter. Every time I want to get excited by open science, I see a twitter conversation where OS bros are aggressively accusing someone of bad practice (that someone happens to be a women, pure coincidence right...). Just don't OK?

Part of my reticence to embrace OS is I don’t want to be allied with the awful OS bros.

That is why it is useful to distinguish #openscience, which is inclusive, from #bropenscience, which isn't. I ally with open science but not with #bropenscience.https://twitter.com/o_guest/status/1053553994273046528 …

I do think so, but honestly, the implicit identification with a community that includes and tolerates bullies bothers me a lot.
