I assume some of the male scientists are making their own pages. Maybe this is analogous to men receiving more awards because they feel more comfortable submitting their own names for consideration.

It seems tacky to write your own Wikipedia page. At least don’t make it so obvious by writing very personal stories about your early life that aren’t verifiable and therefore could only be written by you...
