I am not a huge fan of Prezi in academic presentations. The moment I see a presentation made on Prezi that doesn't make me feel nauseous and confused, and that would not be made better by having it on Excel, I will change my mind.

+1 for using beamer and overleaf. I once presented a journal review to a group of grad students. Received compliments and was asked to show them some tips. I was an undergrad at the time :-)

True that. I mostly prefer local LaTeX editor, unless I need to collaborate.

I use local even when I collaborate. Use a git repo on overleaf. It's beautiful.

My windows machine died so now I have a great excuse to dive into the Linux world. I will try out TexMaker and Kile for something local. Thanks
