Most young scientists I talk to entering academia today finds stuff like open data+code, pre-registration, and humility over failed replications totally intuitive and obvious. Many express a feeling that pre-registration liberates them to focus on the science. Funny that.

Yes there does seem to be a gap between interest/agreement and the practical implemenation/skills. Though I'm also frequently impressed by junior trainees grasp of git/prereg/r/py

Interesting. I think we speak to diff people. May I ask how they got those skills, if you know? Might be useful to guide people who I speak to if possible. May I also ask if you have noticed any correlation between gender and these skills? Often women are pushed out for example.
