Just went to dentist and I have a cavity in my wisdom tooth and I've never had a cavity before and *deep breatgs* I am thinking I'm going to die. Need to calm down.

You'll be fine. You may have to have a little novacaine shot (which will pinch a little), then you may have some drilling (which doesn't hurt, but sounds bad). Your face may be numb for awhile. The procedure takes a few minutes, a couple hours to get feeling back.

I'm not having anything done to it. I left now as we were done with the cleaning. He didn't say it needs anything done to it. Should I be worried? Do you think he's too optimistic? I'm worried even more now if you think it needs something done.

Oh sorry. Didn't mean to make you more worried. If he says it doesn't need treatment right now, it should be fine. Has he talked about whether to keep or extract the wisdom tooth itself. Some people have them taken out (if they come in at strange angles or crowd other teeth).

Yes, he might refer me in 6 months to get them all removed. But I'm really scared and I wanted to keep them. I am being totally irrational though. And I get guess I just have to manage.

You can discuss the risks of keeping them, and ways to mitigate your discomfort if you do have the procedure (general vs. local anasthetic, for example). They are very low risk procedures, but can be a little scary at first.

I'm not keeping them except in a jar.
