Gender-neutral singular 3-twitter-character words to use in modern media (unicode). Prefer one of those, or "they"?

These are so much harder to type and I'm on PC. What's next? "She" is longer than "he" so let's stick with "he"?

Also I thought the point was to be inclusive? How is anything that uses "she" and "he" actually include non-binary people? Not gender neutral by definition if based on "he" and "she".

If you want something 3 characters long (why though?) look to the historical ones like "ou" and so on. Also don't forget we have the pronoun "one" too — and even generic "you" (but that confuses many people)! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third-person_pronoun#Historical_and_dialectal_gender-neutral_pronouns …

But I am not sure why so much effort needs to be made the avoid the lovely and respectful "they"!?

I've got no beef with "they"—I'm pretty sure I still conjugate as third-person plural when nominative or subjective, though. "They're in the garden" as opposed to "they is in the garden." That's not a principled stance, it would just be so jarring to use the latter.

Yes. That is how one uses "they".

Also a big fan of one (as you've just used it)- I inevitably end up adding awkward caveats to "you." That's totally unrelated to gender, I'm just letting it be known.
