It's crazy how strongly learned some of these words are. I've been working to scrub the 1st and 3rd from my vocab (esp in prof context). I'm so glad y'all is "in" (esp living in Texas, since that's already what people use!)

Yeah, I'm not perfect either. "Girls" is easy but not using "guys" is hard AF. "Bitch" I haven't used for a decade though.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. FWIW, I think they're bad in that order guys < girls < bitch. Especially growing up in California "you guys" is used by everyone to refer to everyone. So it's gender specificity is mostly lost in practice.

I know it's not fully which is why I prefer 'y'all' or other truly neutral expressions. I just find it interesting how words lose some of their meaning and change. I think it's fair enough to recall their original meaning and decide it's not a word/expression you want to use tho.
