I apologize. I didn't mean to offend. To the contrary, I was trying to express solidarity and encouragement. I am from the US and have lived in Germany for 9 years. Ithasbeen hard, but it has also gotten better. May I ask, are you homesick for the UK or Cyprus?

I really appreciate your apology. Cyprus.
-
Of course, you're welcome. Cyprus sounds lovely. Would love to visit some day. I hope you can eventually feel at home again, whether that is returning to Cyprus, or your experience in the UK or elsewhere getting better. Feeling like you no longer have a home really sucks.
-
Yeah, we bought a house here and it's not that I don't feel at home it's that sometimes homesickness comes in waves. I think the peace process in Cyprus or just thinking about the war can trigger it. I'm sure visiting might stave off another 2 years too.

-
Heh. I get it. That's kind of how I feel about the US. Left after George Bush, missed Obama's full term, trying to come home during Trump's term. Home just doesn't feel right anymore. But I still miss it.
-
It's complex. I wish I had been accepted by Cypriots and/or the Cypriot government growing up. Would certainly heal some wounds. Might be getting a passport in the next few months... The law has changed and "Cypriot" is not partilineal anymore.
-
Oh wow. I had No idea about those issues of Cypriot citizenship. I just knew that Greece and Turkey have been fighting over Cyprus and messing it up forever.
-
We also do a pretty good job messing ourselves up.
